ADVISE NEEDED: 1974 K20 SWAP FATORY AIR FOR HEATER ONLY

I,m new to this forum and just bought a 1974 k20 with factory air.  The a/c does not work, the fan motor is at one speed and the vacuum hoses are not all connected.  I would like to go away from the factory air setup and install the heater only system.  The 2 main reasons for this is to do away with the vacuum system for the actuator doors and go with the cable system as I feel that will provide a more reliable system in the long run and the other reason is that I dont want/need a/c or any of its components on my truck.  I understand there will be some fab work with this project on the firewall.  Also I believe that all of the components of the system will need to be swapped.  My question is, has anybody on here been through this before? and Is it a pretty straight forward project? What problems might I encounter?

Swapping from AC to Heat will require fabrication on the firewall as the holes and fan setup for the AC vs Heat only isn't the same.  You would need a donor to get all you need, plus you will need metal to seal up holes in the firewall.

Thank you for the reply.  I'm in contact with a guy who says he can get me everything needed to make the conversion.  I'm also wondering if the new heater core box inside the cab will bolt up to the existing holes or not?
