LTZ, I read that article on the fan shroud. I looked up the website where you bought your radiator. they have a pretty good price on the shroud. Will hope to have the shroud before I finish under the hood. I found an original GM upper radiator bracket today along with some other parts from a guy who sells 73-87 Chevy parts.

I'm glad my article was helpful. You will be much better off and much happier with the shroud. Finding original parts is always a plus too.

Can anyone tell me the part number or a place to buy the V8 throttle cable for my 73. I found that the 6 cylinder throttle cable is about 2 to 3 inches to long.

Should be able to get it at any O'Reilly, AutoZone, Napa or Rock auto and a few other places.

I have struck out on the throttle cable from the auto stores, none of them had a listing for what I need. I'm now searching restro parts off the internet. I have a question sent to 2 so far before I order. I did find a MR. Gasket universal kit, which might be the way I have to go.

Try a few newer years, like 74, 75, 76. I think they will be the same as long as they have the same option. V8 with auto or manual trans, depending on what you have

I'm sure napa has a listing for 74. I've looked it up before for a blazer.

All the cables that I have found measured from 24" to 25" long. The one I have measures 19.5" long, and without bending a big "S" in it, it's about 3.5" to long.
I was contacted by one of the restro sites and the one they say will work for my build is the same length as what I have.
I also talked with a friend of mine who's into build rods and he told me he was cutting out a section of the spiral wire section and was putting a coupler from a hydraulic shop to put it back together. He said he would put some tape on the ends where he was going to cut to keep it from raveling.
Mr. Gasket sells a throttle kit that comes in a 36" length that you cut to fit. Hate to throw 3/4 of the product away after cutting to fit what I have.
I'm going over to the guy in my area that sells original 73-87 parts and look at what he might have before I do anything.

Yes the cable should have a loop, not a tight, small loop. It should be large and relaxed, exactly as Irish posted.
