Hello - New member in Tucson AZ

I have an '84 Custom Deluxe C10. Purchased it in '87 so its a part of the family. Was nice to find a place with so much good info. Truck had a 305 and went to a 350 after 160K. Have another 125K now and am interested in doing a swap so will be searching the site for good ideas. If you know of a particular post that could help me answer some of these questions I would appreciate it.

I do all of my own work...at least everything I am able to. I was a general aviation mechanic for 18 years and have been a tooling engineer for a medical company the last 20 years. In my mid 50's and finding it harder to get up after crawling around under the truck. That being said I would like to put a late model V8, transmission and driveline into the truck. Have been searching some of the auction sites locally so looks like there are plenty of options. Even if you don't have a recommendation for the swap it would be nice to know what I should stay away from. I'm old enough now to learn from others mistakes....well mostly. This truck will far outlive me here in the dry desert.... where old trucks go to live forever.

I look forward to spending some evenings looking through this site and learning some new things.

Chuck T.

Welcome from the beautiful White Mountains in Northeast AZ! I'm only about 3.5 hours away! I know all about the desert preserving trucks! My truck spent its entire life in the Phoenix area until I bought it in 2013. There's lots of good information and people on this site that can get you pointed in the right direction. We have an entire thread area on LS swaps in the engine section. That seems to be a popular route to go to get a newer and more reliable engine in these trucks.
