On second thought, no------the solenoid is only about 1.5" away from the exhaust manifold. Now, the manifold itself does have a sheet metal shield attached around it---probably to protect the plugs/plug wires too. But i don't know if this is adequate to also shield the starter solenoid from heat?
i wonder if a service manual might show the positions of the heat shield(s)?
i did get all the wires to the starter nice and tight, but i won't know if that will solve the hard hot start problem until the new carb arrives.
Also i wonder if v-8's are set up the same way with the pass side manifold that close to the starter solenoid?
