New k10 owner from the high rockies.
« on: December 18, 2015, 11:18:57 pm »
Hey all, after having some issues with my 07 xterra i decided it was finally time to find the truck id been wanting for years. And i scored a 78 k10 with what appears to be a 6 inch lift on 35 boggers. Its got a crate 350 (havent determined what motor came in it) with a sm465/np205. Love that combo. The truck runs great, i just replaced the oil pan gasket, and doing spark plugs in the morning. Other than that all i have done is gotten rid of the nasty old purple tint, put shoulder seat belts in it, and made the seat tip forward. I really love the truck, and it has given me no trouble other than being grumpy when its -20 in the am. But heck, im grumpy to then lol. I did put a heater in the lower radiator hose and that has helped, i also used 5w30 oil to help with startups.

The world i am new to is the quadrajet, or i guess truck carbs in general (have worked on motorcycle carbs many times) and needing to get into the choke. I found a kit for electric choke and am seriously thinking about it. Is there any good threads on here, or any good resoursces someone could point me in the direction of? I am very mechanically inclined and looking forward to getting it set up right. What about manual choke? It did not appear that there was an easy way to do that on the quadrajet. Thanks for any info guys.

I will get some pics up once im not to tired to mess with it. Just wanted to say hi.
