1974 Chevy C10 454 Piston rod bearings?
« on: December 28, 2015, 10:01:30 am »
The piston bearing went out in my truck about 2 weeks ago and I am wondering if there is any brand that is better than or more sought after then others? I don't want to end up going cheap and then having this issue again but I can't really afford to go crazy and buy the best. I'm not running any type of performance set up quite yet but it isn't out of the question in the future. Any insight or opinions will help. Thank you!!!

I didn't think Chebbys and Jimmys had full floating wrist pins. Just the more expensive Holden, Buick, Olds, Pontiac, and Caddy engines... :D

If you've lost the wrist pin bearings you have larger issues than what bushing to replace it with.

Think he means connecting rod bearings. When I was into this, Clevite 77 were the bearings to get. That was 20 years ago. I'm guessing rod and main bearings haven't changed much though.

Yes the connecting rod bearings! It's the 2 half circle pieces that go between the crank shaft and the piston.
