hey everyone im new to the board and just bought a 79 K15 and the cab is shot. i have got a doner cab off of a 84 c10. is this a straight up swap or is there any hangups i should expect, one of my buddies says its straight up one says there are issues if you dont go to the newer front end. im not swaping to the newer style front end i like the looks of the older better. ive done a search but i havent really found what im looking for. any help would be appreciated.

If you are using the 80's cab with a '70's frontend you will be fine.  There will be the hinge hole that is there, but...  Now if you were putting a '80's frontend on a 70's truck it would be a little more difficult.

You will have to use the 73-80 wiper arm assembly that is down inside the firewall cause the 81 up were taller and will hit the hood on the older frontends. Also you might run into a problem with the transmisson hump. Some 4x4s had a higher hump for clearance under the truck for the 4x4 stuff. The 2wd c10 cabs were all short humps. Measure from the bottom of the dash below the ashtray down to the hump on both cabs. If they are the same then it should be a straight swap. If they are different you might want to do more research to see what it will take to make this change. Other than these two things everything else bolts on and lines up. Good luck!
