Back to a build
« on: January 25, 2016, 07:30:27 am »
Well from the last time I posted my first post, I moved to South Carolina from Louisiana before I could purchase a truck.  I have been living in an apt up here til about 8 months ago. Now that I have a house with a garage and plenty of space for a nice size shop I am in the hunt for a truck to restore once again.  Looking to purchase in early-mid May.  Trying to find a truck that needs little/no body work that runs and drives and can do so reliably with a little work.

Plan is to redo suspension, brakes, interior and have it as a dependable driver for when I don't feel like driving my car.  Once I get this list done I want to do a Vortec 5.3L and 4l60/80 swap and finally paint.

Wanting to end up with a reliable truck that I can haul stuff in the bed and take it to a car meet.

Have been reading all through the forum and getting ideas on how to go about the job.  I am pretty comfortable with the suspension, brakes and interior. Will be the first time I have swapped a motor to a new generation.

-----  Selling my motorcycle this weekend to buy a truck finally been putting it off for almost a year now.  Still need to get someone out to put down some concrete for a shop but got my garage til then.
