E-BRAKE QUESTIONS FOR MY 74 GMC

Sup guys I'm stump on my e-brake route and I wanted to ask if anyone had a pic of there's or maybe a book with the correct way it's supposed to be. What has me really stump is how close the cable runs by the Trans mount. It also didn't work correctly when I bought it also so I figured there was something missing or incorrect. Anyways any info is greatly appreciated!
