1975 K10 4X4 1500$ !!! **** ( PICS ADDED) ****
« on: February 09, 2016, 07:25:23 am »
HI
 I just picked up a 1975 K10 4x4 shortbed for 1500$
The guy said the Carb was acting up so he put a brand new carb on it and now it Runs full throttle.

So I towed it home put a 17$ throttle cable in it. Purrs like a kitten..  The motor runs smoother and quieter  then my 07 Subaru.
Truck starts up with just a flick of the key.
 Doug thorly headers
Edelbrock Carb
Edelbrock intake

I cant wait to START DRIVING  it.

One problem I cant get the Power steering pump belts tight enough. sometime it's ok and then other times it will squeak and not want to turn becauce the belt is slipping. Any tricks on getting that belt tight??

Welcome, from TX.
Very good find!
Is your adjustment all the way out on pump?  May slip the next size shorter and wider belt over pulley an see if it fits the channel any better.
Never Apologize..........as it shows signs of weakness

Nice truck!  Welcome to the Forum.  This tool makes adjusting the PS pump belt an easy task!

Im not at the end of adjustment.

It is a (two groove) pulley  The truck is an A/C truck
But the AC pump is not there. I think I might be missing a bracket.  Im not sure.  I was going to put two belts on it and use a Pry-Bar to pull it tight. I'll try it this weekend.

Do not pry against the reservoir!  It will permanently distort and may begin to leak.

I know. I'll pick up that tool you showed me. that will help.

I really think im missing a bracket when the origanal owner removed the A/C pump. because after I get the belt as tight as i can, I can push on the belt a little and the power steering pump will move a little towards the front of the truck as if a bracket is missing.

Time to search the internet for pictures.

If it's got headers the aft bracket is probably gone.

New quality belt?

Here's an example from an '87 R10 that uses an R4 compressor, adapted to function with headers.
The bracket really stabilizes the P/S pump, making the mount rigid.

 Yes
I'm thinking I'll need something like that. I'll have to make a bracket out of cardboard, then make the real one in our machine shop here at work.

Shouldn't be too hard to find the right bracket, with that you'll need a longer bolt and a spacer for the the front most header bolt.

My 74 has the bracket but hard to see due to I run an aftermarket compressor and the bracket for that partially  covers it up.
