Cab drain holes

Underneath the truck, at back of the cab, on each side there are capped holes. The plugs they are capped with are metal or plastic by the feal of them.

1. What are they for? (Draining I assume, but they are capped off.)
2. How do remove the plug? (They don't twist off, is there a trick to it?)
3. How important are they? How do people mod this area? (I'm considering using the holes for a wire route.)

they pop off, normally stuck in with glue(90% are metal, but I have seen a few with plastic), stick a screwdriver under the edge, or use a punch from underneath

if you use the appropriate grommet, you should be able to run wiring through them.

Managed to get it off after twisting at the edge with a screwdriver. Bent and gashed the plug of course.

Probably where I will run wiring if I can find a hard plastic (not rubber) grommet/through-whole/theaded wire-routing plug things.

Splash on a bit og POR-15 and 3M Windo-Weld Urethene in the area too.

Well, I Put 2 lite coats of POR-15 on the area around the hole, it had surface-rust-color and while it was fine I wanted a little bit of protection. Dabbed on a smear of Right Stuff around the hole edge too.

Found some "fits 1in hole" plastic caps at the hardware store for $.37 and they snap in perfect.
