Cheap tie downs (and Spare Tire mount)!

Needed some tie-down points in my recently acquired truck, so I went down to the steel yard and bought a stick of 2" angle, 1/8" thick.  Also welded up a spare tire mount.  Total cost, about $24.

Spare mount


One of the (4) floor mounted tie downs


Under each top rail and a small one up front on the floor.


Added some squares of 1/8" steel underneath bed for added strength


Spare tire mount - still have to get a big bolt and drill the hole for it.

Not too bad. Putting them on the underside of the bed rails was a good idea.

just to give you an idea my truck has the tie downs on the side of the bed rail and a bolt every 5 or so inches. its rated for 1000 lbs

Finished up the Spare mount today.  Welded a short chain onto it so I can lock the wheel.



All done - and very solid!
