Aftermarket CD Player Issues 86 C10 Scottsdale

I own a 1986 Chevy truck C10 Scottsdale.  I recently tried to install a CD player, but after install, the CD player turns on when the car is turned on, but then the CD player immediately turns off.  I believe it is due to some wiring issues.  The truck and CD player’s wires don’t match up.

The truck has 11 total wires.  8 of those are for the 4 speakers.  The yellow wire is for power.  The black wire is for a clock, and I don’t know what the gray wire is for.

The CD player has 13 total wires.  8 of those are for the 4 speakers which I have matched up.  The black wire is grounded.  The power wire is hooked up to the yellow wire on the truck.  That leaves the blue remote wire, which I don’t know what to tie it into – I think this is the issue.  There is also an orange wire with a white line, but I don’t think it is meant for anything.

Black wire from truck is ground.  Grey wire is for dash lights.  You will have to run a + from fuse box or tap into the cigarette lighter orange wire.

Only half true, the blue "remote" wire is a remote activation for, like you said, a power antenna or an amplifier, usually for subwoofers. Power antennas and amplifiers have a remote wire hook up as well. So when the radio turns on it sends a signal to whatever is hooked up the remote wire to turn on and become active. When the radio turns off, the signal drops from the remote wire and the related accessory shuts off.

It's perfectly fine to leave it unhooked and never use it, it won't hurt anything if you don't use it.

You're issue is that a modern stereo needs two power wires, One (typically yellow) needs power at all time (ignition on or off) another (typically red) needs power only when the igintion is in on/run or accessory (you can use a circuit that is only on when the ignition is in on/run but won't be able to listen to the radio with truck in acc)

orange would typically connect to your grey wire for illumination and dimmer

Blue is just a remote, can be used to trigger a power antenna or amplifier, can just be taped up and ignored if you don't need it (dont leave loose wire where it can ground out)

Thanks for the advice so far. What I'm curious about is, we have the yellow power wire hooked up. Now we just need to know which other power wire needs to be hooked up and where. To the battery? To the fuse box? I'm a little sketchy about that.

Yellow power wire is constant power (direct to battery with a fuse)

Red power wire can be hooked up to any wire that is powered only while the key is in the on or acc positions, This can be a acc location on the fuse box (just use a micrometer to test it is getting 12V when the key is turned to ON but not when the key is turned to OFF/LOCK 

Some people will tap into the wire that goes to the Cigarette lighter for the red line, but before doing that make sure it is getting 12V when the truck in ON and no voltage when truck is OFF

Yellow wire is the memory and since the clock on my 85 don't work I robbed the constant power from there so I wouldn't have to double up on my accessories like the cigar lighter.
