rookie question time - any tips for engine install? 77 K10 350/350

This weekend I am dropping a 350 engine in my 77 K10. The engine (long block+intake+crank pully) sits on the stand without anything else on it. Transmission (350) is still in the truck. It has been 30 years since I installed an engine so I am looking for any tips ya'll might have. Probably too dumb to listen to "get someone else to do it". I have test fit most of the parts to make sure I have all the nuts, bolts, gaskets, etc.

Mostly I think dropping the motor in is easier with nothing on it. On the other hand it wouldn't be the first time I found out after the fact that I really wish I had installed Part A before Part B.

For example, should I install the fuel pump?
How about the water pump? Install it? It is off now.
Exhaust Manifolds? My guess is to them leave it off.

I find it easier to install the intake manifold before the motor goes in.  All of the other accessories like the water pump, fuel pump, dist, alt, & starter I wait until the motor is bolted into the motor mounts.
That's just me, it's a personal preference thing.

i just installed mine without the intake or exhaust manifolds.  Now, if you do that make sure to COVER the exposed top parts of the engine so junk doesn't fall in.   Of course this is a 4.3 and there's more room to work on stuff, but i have installed v-8 small blocks as well;  The fuel pump, intake, water pump exhaust manifolds, distributor etc. can all be installed afterwards without difficulty.   

i would recommend at least installing the, harmonic damper, timing cover, oil pan, any heat shields and the lower oil sender before dropping it in though.
