Need help with gauge swap!
« on: June 21, 2016, 10:16:26 pm »
My newest and latest project, a 1973 c10 swb. Has all the idiot lights in the dash. They need to go. Went to my local pick-n-pull and found a few donor clusters to get everything I thought I'd need.

I have all the gauges and the correct printed circuit just not sure how to do all my wiring. This isn't going to be my forever set up. Eventually I'll be doing a nice pro-street style dash with either Dakota digitally or a complete automated set.

I'm starting to feel like I bit off more than I could chew. Basically I need to know how to get power to my volt meter and water temp gauge (I do have the correct sending unit) by either hardwiring, or something. Just not Good at this stuff!

Any help is greatly appreciated :)

it is super helpful. Although I really don't want to re-pin my wiring harness. Is there any way around this, like a temporary solution to get me through the summer lol, I'm still putting money into the C10 interior face lift fund. :D

Not really.  You'll need to re-pin the cluster plug.
Unlike 73-76 with stock gauges... 73-76 warning lamp cluster harness already has an oil sender wire.  The warning lamp harness is missing the ammeter shunt wires too.  Kindof a mixed blessing.
What does this mean?
A cluster from a 77 or later truck with electric oil pressure and a voltmeter will be the easiest to retrofit into your warning lamp truck.
