Got a new toy!
« on: July 05, 2016, 12:37:46 am »
Bought a 1997 Z28 from my Cousin in Florida.  Its got 180k but about 20k on engine/trans.  recovered front seats and new dash.  Its got a decent stereo but needs a sub.   It's an auto with a rebuilt LT1 350 with BBK headers and flowmaster exhaust so it's loud.  It's got Edelbrock Aluminum Heads and has had work to upgrade the fuel system, and has a custom tune.  No rot and new T-top seals within a couple of years.   Plus Ive seen my cuz riding in this thing since he got it in 2000, and I know he takes care of his stuff.   I got it ridiculously cheap.  He's selling off his current cars and buying a new luxury car.  It's fun and didn't miss a beat on the 500 mile drive home in it.  and it got about 25MPG.  Only had it about a week and a half.

Got no engine pics so far.  I Havent cleaned it up yet.  I've been driving it a lot!

Nice car. I know you have been thinking about selling the truck and buying a camaro for a while.  I'm glad that you kept the truck.

I still have the truck and impala.  use the impala for work, truck for working and camaro for cruisin.  Tho now the impala lives outside.  Camaro took its spot.  truck won't ever live outside whatever car I get... 8)

I used to like the LS1 front end better but I've gone back to the LT1 look.  97 is the perfect year for me, has the LT1 front end, but the LS1 Interior.

Always wanted one of these.  Now I've got a nice one.

This turned out well.  Originally, I bought the car super cheap, to strip and put the engine/trans in my truck.  would have been perfect, a complete car to get all the parts i could need, wiring, etc...  but when i went to get the car, it was way too nice to take apart.  So now I have another toy.  My cousin didn't care, he just wanted to pass it on and I'm happy he thought of me!

I haven't ever seen that picture before but it validates my point, even without photo shop, those things look like catfish!

It makes me smile.  I'd rather have a manual, but hey for the price, I can't complain, plus it's nice in Atlanta Traffic.  A stick sucks in Atlanta Traffic.

Thanks man!  Out of my three vehicles, I'd sell both cars before I let go of that truck!

Nice, had a V6 Camaro went pretty good in the snow when I put studded snows on the back, non studded snows on front.

Some people are like Slinkies. Not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs

Heck yeah, I been after a 97-02 long as i can remember.  I like the body style.  i like the earlier front end better, but the later interior better.  so 97 is perfect for me.

They are just fun to drive.  No, it's not the fastest thing out there, but it makes me smile every time i drive it.  It's my fun car.  I have my truck for when stuff needs doin, my camaro for cruisin and my impala for daily driver duty.  I'm lovin it.

Tho i got used to this camaro real quick, drove the truck today it felt like i was driving a bus...haha.  tho don't get me wrong, i'd get rid of the camaro and impala way before id ever get rid of the truck.
