4th gen camaro site
« on: July 07, 2016, 11:41:52 pm »
obviously I'm looking for a camaro site equivelent to this truck site.  Haven't found it yet.   I know ls1tech isn't near as friendly. Joined it, and eh it's no 73-87chevytrucks.com

Whats a good site for 4th gen camaros?

I'm looking for sites like this one.  friendly, gives a crap, tries to help all they can.

Havent found it yet.

my intro page on there.  Most all of the introduce yourself pages have zero replies.  I don't get that.

http://ls1tech.com/forums/introductions-greetings/1837855-new-97-z28-owner.html#post19321174

I know i have an uphill battle anyway cuz i have an LT1 and an automatic, but dang, apparently truck guys are decent ppl and sports cars ppl are not.  i dunno this stimeys me.  all the camaro sites are about the same.  if it's not SS Manual you have garbage and you are a moron for owning it.  what is that?  thats the height of stupid arrogance.  i don't get it.  I didn't know until now, how much chevy ppl crap on Z28's.  thats retarded.  it's a v8 muscle car.  and the SS's only mad 30 hp more or so.  This isn't computing.  apparently chevy truck guys are just better people.  chevy car guys suck from what I've seen so far.

I don't get this.  does not compute.  I realize an SS or Z280 manual is preferred, but why crap on Z-auto guys?  whats that accomplish?  besides mines dynoed at 370hp at the rear wheels, auto and all.  beats any stock SS.

I dunno. seems the mustang guys are better ppl on this one. and chevy truck guys.

eh.

Crap, I did a 1-2 shift today burnout for like 4 seconds at a little over half throttle.  piss on an SS

Even a couple ppl on this site said they didn't care for the car I have, but they weren't nasty or ugly about it.  gave no offence.  they just stated a preference.  these camaro forum ppl crap all over z28s.  Thatd be like you guys crapping all over custom deluxes and scottsdales or any truck with less than 500rwhp.  why wouldyou be ugly to ppl who like what you do.  This is bugging me.  considering with my auto, i can outrun 75-85% of manuals out there.   don't seem so crappy to me.  but i have a Z auto so im garbage

Chris, ur site is truly a truck treasure.  thats why i remain a site supporter, even tho i'm not on her so much these days.  Your site is wonderful.

I also joined ls1 tech when my buddy bought a 93 lt1 auto car we were going to swap it into his much nicer 97 v6 5speed and I was hoping for great responses on what I should look Into doing the swap and going not only from obd1 to obd2 but also doing it with the stock 2 harnesses and maybe a pcm retune and how to get past the security features. All I got in response was buy an aftermarket harness but really you should just by a 97 v8 car because your wasting your time.

Witch isn't exactly wrong but I'm 18 and he's 17. At the time we both worked in fast food and we just wanted some advice so we could waste our time in the garage and one day finally drive it out of his yard and say we built this. And  we took these cars using what we had and made what he wanted. But I didn't get the responses I was used to on this site.

He has since gave up On the car since the opti spark was bad and it needs a headgaket and he got a elco that we put a cam in. And I've stuck to my old 82 c-10 dumping money into it to get it to where I want.

But to be fair I read several posts on that site saying it is going downhill and maybe at the time no one loging on regularly knew how to help so they just said what they would do.

Kenny,
Your post points out the great job that Captkaos & the moderators do keeping this site a friendly place.
This was the first forum that I joined. I don't post everyday, but rarely a day goes by that I'm not on here checking out other people's rides. Just a fun place to be.
I've joined a few other automotive sites over the years.  I don't want to name names but on one site I was trying to get specific info on my TPI set up and another site was to get info on the Military CUCV's. It's amazing the online bashing that goes on some places.  Looking back, I'm sure I could have gotten the info that I wanted right here.
With this site, its different. Even if I had a question about building a storage shed, I think I could post a question in the General Discussion section and I'd get the answers I need.
Like I said, this forum is just a fun place to be.
Oh well, fun time is over for now, gotta go cut the lawn.

100% agree.  We try hard to keep the drama down.  There may be a group specific on Facebook but I know there are a few nasty folks on there as well.

Thanks for backing my view, guys.

Now I know it's not just me.  way back in the day when I had my old 87 in 2008.  I didn't get yet why chris ran his site like he does.  now i Get it, and expect all sites to be like Chris' site.  I just joined some sites blindly like i did this truck site.  i expected the same.   all the Truck sites i joined were at least friendly.  but these camaro guys are assholes.   and worse than that are corvette guys...  i dfont get it.   its all chevy.  vettes are better than camaros SOLELY cuz they detuned the camaros to make sure the vettes were better.

i don't get it.  I have 370RWHP but im a loser, strictly cuz i have a Z28 and not an ss, which was 35hp at best over a stock Z28...

They're nasty about it.  i dunno why.  i'd be cool with camaro guys running 3800's so long as it was in a camaro...  i dunno i'm used to this site (spoiled)  this stuff just messed with me a bit...  I'm like ya'll   i'd be tickled to death to talk to anyone with a 93-97 camaro...  not crapping on people cuz its not a whatever

I got spoiled by this site.  All of you guys helped me a lot to build my truck.  I'll never forget that.  it means a lot to me, you guys know what I mean...    I tried to give back all i could with my build page and one or to technical pages.  thats awesome.

Chris, your site is special to me, and that's why, even tho I'm not on here nowadays but every 3 or 4 months (cuz my truck just works all the time)  I still make sure to pay my site supporter.  Because I believe in your site, sir.  best "any kind of car" site I've ever been on.

Too bad he gave up on the LT1.  Head gasket is annoying.  The optispark has so many myths and ooogie booogie stories about it...  all it is is a low profile distributor with an optical shaft encoder running off the camshaft.  The inverted torx screws are a minor annoyance.
I've reworked 5 of them with bad optical sensors and in need of a cap n rotor.  So easy a caveman could do it. Just leave the chopper wheel alone.

Impala LT?  I have an SS with the LS4 & 4T65E-HD but the '12 and later with the CTS V6 & 6 speed auto will last longer.
