73Cheyenne Rare Paint Interior??
« on: April 01, 2006, 04:23:00 pm »
Hello! My son just inherited his great grandfathers truck and we are begining a restoration. The color is moss olive (I'd call it pea green) /two tone white, and the interior is avocado green.  I cannot find any of the interior things we need in the correct color. I guess we will take to upholstry shop, and paint what we can.
Is this a rare color? I can't find any others like it.
Any ideas, suggestions, leads are appreciated!!

I had a 76 that was Moss Gold but I always thought it was more of an olive drab color with metalic. It had an avacado color interior, I still have the cab but its gutted out, as the whole interior was trashed. Always thought the interior color was nasty.

Some people are like Slinkies. Not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs

I bought this 76 last year from a farmer and it had that ugly green interior. It was covered in a layer of dirt and dust about half an inch thick. I cleaned up one of the door panels and it looked pretty good or as good as that shade of green can look. He always had a dash cover on it and that dash pad was in really great shape too. If you would of posted last august you could have bought the whole rust free truck for $500.00.

At least I know they were still using it in 76, maybe that will help me find it.  I don't think the seat/dash color is so bad, it just does not go with the pea green paint. (oops, I mean moss olive) Maybe I should just change the whole color scheme. But I thought if this was rare, It might be worth something to keep it original. We have ordered a lot of new body parts and are looking for a bed. What do you think? Is there a way to find out how many of theese were made?
Thanks again for the photo help.

From my experience,I've not seen any of this style (73-87)pickup "worth" anything big.I could be wrong.  I'd say to make it any color you like and enjoy your project!

I can't speak on the popularity of the color but as for the truck being rare, probably not.  If it was a special version with limited numbers it would probably be valuable, but typically the 73-87's aren't that valuable since they were made for so long.

Wow. Four different colors on the interior. JMO- it begs for an upgrade.

That was the color of my interior as well, and topless that was the exterior color but now two tone.

OK, Thanks everyone for your replies. We have decided to change the color, and try to modernize it a bit.  Now I'll have to change my username too!!
