Just wanted to stop in and introduce myself-- Im Tom, I just bought an 87 v-10 project truck. The plan is to get it roadworthy and use it for a barn/shop I will be building. Then when the shop is done, I want to bust it down all the way and pretty it up.
I was actually looking for a 49-50 chevy when this girl caught my eye--I used to own the same model/same year--bent the frame pulling rocks and let it go cheap---had 198k and ran like an animal!
Saw this girl sitting 2 towns away--60k original miles--old fella owned it and was moving on, and wanted to give it a good home. Once I saw it..that was it--heck with with the 49, Im gonna relive my time with the truck I let go!
I'ved worked part time in a metal fab place (hoods-countertops) for about 20 years -pretty handy with mig and tig--Have never did autobody--will be looking to you folks for some pointers on doing it properly.
I'm pretty handy with a 6.5, owned a diesel sub for years--suffered thru every single thing that they normally throw at you--cooling issues--injection pump--electrical quirks and the list goes on--re powered it with a lovely bomb proof engine from AM General and the frame folded in half 4 years later! Broke my heart. Have a tech1, if your local and need your pump adjusted to the illusive -2.02 setting.
Thats it--will try to attach a pic of the project..look forward to talking to you folks.
