Tq convertor to flywheel question...
« on: September 12, 2016, 10:50:50 am »
So after many many moons of piece g together my motor I finally got it in my truck. The block k and crNk I used is a350 out of a 94 pickup. With this, I used the newer flex plate that came with the motor( has the flu get weight for the crank on it.) So my issue is, if there is an issue, is that as it sits there is like  half inch gap between my flexplate and my tq convertor. I double checked that I put it on right,  and I can pull the tq convertor to the flexplate to put the bolts in. For some reason I feel like I shouldn't have to pull the tq convertor to the flexplate. So should I use spacers, do I need a diff flexplate or convertor? Any help would be great. Pics attached for clarification of the gap.

Spin the torque convertor and pull towards the flexplate.

i think 1 inch is ok, but let's hear from others who have more experience with this kind of thing.

pulling the TC to the Flexplate is fine, what is happening is likely the TC is pulling on the seal, which is why zieg85 said spin the TC when pulling on it, this will reduce the risk of pulling the seal the wrong way-although it is unlikely to cause the seal to pull out or rotate to far as it is a rather tight seal, but anything is possible.

also if you are even slightly downhill, the TC will travel down-slope- which may be another reason it is closer to the tranny.
