Middle ujoint help
« on: September 15, 2016, 01:28:43 pm »
I have a 3 piece drive shaft, and I do not know how to go about taking the middle ujoint out.  Please help.

should only have a 2 piece driveshaft which consist of 3 u joints and one carrier bearing. first step is to remove the whole carrier bearing then depending on your setup you would unbolt the rear u joint then slide the drive shaft out the center slip yoke probably wont just come out and if you want to replace the carrier bearing now would be the time but you might have to beat the old one off

Yes sir. 2 piece with 3 ujoints
I plan on do the carrier bearing.
I just don't see how to remove the middle ujoint. The carrier bearing don't seem hard to get off, getting the new 1 back on looks to be a harder, that's what I've been told anyways

Ok I read that again. So when I remove the rear ujoint it will just slide out.

if you remove the rear u joint from the axle you should be able to pull the two pieces apart leaving the front shaft still attached to the carrier and trans. unbolt the carrier from the cross member and then slide or unbolt the front from the trans
