Heater/defrost control upgrades?
« on: September 26, 2016, 02:23:46 pm »
My truck only has heater and defrost, and both sliders broke, as well as the plastic mounting tabs. As replacements are $80, and these are prone to breaking, I'm not sure I want to use the same thing again. So, are there any other options? Has anyone retrofitted a different control unit before? If there really isn't any other option then is there a way to minimize the chances of it breaking again and which company offers the best unit?

Have you checked the Bowden cables that run from the dash selector to the heater box?  They may just need some lubrication.

1 lever broke off, the other won't move and I can see behind it as my bezel is off and it's broken and moves around, it's only attached to the faceplate by the remaining lever now.
