Whos running led lights ? I drive my 78 52 miles round trip to work. My headlights gotta go or It won't last long, I'm going to wind up hitting dears yes dears they thrive around were I work because they are protected or pigs lol
So who's got some good ideas on lighting up the road in these old trucks

I have Led headlights with a blue halo...i love them at night...The original 7 " round headlights wern't cutting it.

Irish...speaking of the search...i seem to always have a hard time looking for different things...i try to type all sorts of different phrases but it seems like nothing works.

i use the search button right next to "home, form, store and help" sometimes if i use the one in the upper right it seems to not work as good

Keep the number of search words to a minimum and click on "Show results as messages."  Listing the poster will also help if you're looking for a specific thread.

i'm with you in that yes, i am going to have to go with led pretty soon.  Although i may have to do one side at a time. :-[

In the meantime Sylvania Silverstars may be a good comprise at about $25 each.

I STRONGLY discourage Sylvania headlights,  ESPECIALLY the silverstar line. They put out LESS light than their standard or Xtravision lines. They are an xtravision bulb with a blue filter = less lumens, in a more glaring, less effective color. If you buy sealed beam, buy GE. I loathe the fact that my employer has switched to carrying nothing but Eiko and Sylvania headlight bulbs.

My 76 k20 has a pair of Koito 7" h4 flat lens housings with real osram 75/65 h4 bulbs. Koito's are difficult to come by, occasionally Daniel Stern, http://danielsternlighting.com can get them. He does keep Cibie housings, which are nearly as good as Koito, for about $20/unit less. Rebuild your headlight harness using at least 12 gauge, preferably 10 gauge wire, quality relays, and ceramic sockets. I added a pair of inexpensive steel "off road light" housings that will fit a par 46 sealed beam or h1 cibie housing, used the high beam switch lead to activate a relay for them as well, using GE h5001 sealed beam lamps. The headlights have a nice flat light cutoff on low beam to reduce glare to oncoming traffic, but the high beam set of the h4 and sealed beams in the driving lamps gives me a very focused, much brighter high beam that covers further down road and further off the sides of the road (such as a dark 2 lane highway), than *ANY* vehicle I've ever been in. I'm looking forward to the Cibie par 46 replacements for the sealed beams in my driving lights. Just not looking forward to shelling out another $200 by the time I buy bulbs.

i would like to AMEND my position regarding headlights to state that i think Sylvania Silverstars are a vast improvement over what i was running previously which were Wagner halogens from probably 1996   ;)

i look forward to adding ALL led lights to my truck.  Not just the headlights but all---marker, tail, turn signals etc.

I've got the GE Nighthawk LEDs in my '77.  Been in there for about 3 years.  Work great!

I don't hold most halo replacements in high regards, as their optical quality is often suspect, while they may produce (with the help of whatever bulb you put in, spend some money on GOOD quality stuff here, no sylvania, eiko, or wagner) a lot of light, it may not be well focused and end up creating a very false sense of security, and/or blinding other drivers. You could try them, but in my opinion, if you want a budget upgrade, buy good basic GE sealed beams and save money for a set of hella, cibie, or koito headlights and Osram, Flosser, or Narva bulbs, or a quality set of LED headlamps such as JW Speaker Evolution 2's, although their price point is horrendous for what you're buying, IMO.

Thanks do I have to order online or can I go to local auto zone or something.  I thinking of going that way. Idk anything about lighting
