locking diff
« on: April 02, 2005, 01:05:00 am »
When burning rubber I've noticed that only my RR tire is doing any work and my left isn't turning at all. I have little knowledge of differentials. I know that there are locking and limited-slip rear ends. How much would it be to upgrade and how hard is it to do. I've heard that the cost is around $400-500. A little steep for me- but something to keep in mind.

find out which rear you have, open (there will be spider gears but no locking springs) or a limited slip with the springs.  if it is an open rear you can install the no slip parts with out removing the whole works.  (www.drivetrain.com<-----check this site out very informative and they sell everything you need)  as far as price goes i bought an auburn limited slip with new gears and a master install kit for 605.00 shipped last week from 4 wheel parts wholesale for my 4x4 (I blew pieces of the stock carrier through the rear diff cover, it wasn't pretty, 90w all over the place, looked like a crime scene.)
