I bid on another Military/Fire Dept CUCV

  I took a 6 hour round trip drive today and put in a sealed bid  on a Military/Fire Dept CUCV.
  I usually bid on these at live auctions in person.  The sealed bid is a tough concept for me.  You can get outbid by $5 and loose the truck.
  I bid $2525 on it. Its a clean truck (1 rocker is a little crusty).  The electrical system will need some work.  Its been converted from 24V to 12V.  I have some spare harnesses from rusty parts trucks (I'd probably convert it back to 24V) 
  It belongs to a Volunteer Fire Dept in New Hampshire.  They have owned it for 15 years. 
  Hopefully I get the call tomorrow saying I'm the high bidder.  It would be a nice addition to my CUCV collection.

It looks pretty good.  Hope you get it.  In my area that Knapheide bed would fetch ~ $1200 so I think your bid is pretty reasonable.

Years ago I also did the sealed bid for parts trucks.   I never won but was always within $50 - $100 of the winner.  Close but no cigar!  lol

  I'm always checking out the GSA auction site, Municibid, & Auctions International.
   I have 10 of these trucks now.  2 are nice clean trucks, the others are rusty parts trucks.
Last month I picked up a rusty M1008 that runs & drives for $550.  Hunting these trucks down at the auction is addicting.

Sorry you didn't win.  Although sealed-bid auctions can be tricky, at least it will give you a "comparable" for the future for that locale.

I have a general idea of what they are worth.  If if the truck was something I needed, I would have no problem bidding $5k on it. I've already have a M1028 as a daily driver.  This just would have been a cool truck to have.

Irish, this truck was on Craigslist.  It belonged to the Dunbarton N.H. Volunteer Fire Dept.  Sealed bids had to be in by 11/10/16.
Where is the truck that you found with 3 days left?  Maybe I'll bid on that 1.  Thanks
