My new ride.....
« on: April 04, 2005, 10:31:00 pm »
I got this '76 C10 for $250!!!!! The body is straight, no rust, great bed, , cab, fenders, etc., 350 gone .060 over, turbo 400 trans., and: one piece driveshaft? I broke the rear on this thing trying to tow-dolly it to the new house and thought removing the shaft would let it roll easier. I crawl up under this LONGBED truck, and find a 1-piece driveshaft?!? Anyone else heard of this? I've gone through 5 of these 73-80's and have never seen a longbed have a 1-piece shaft. Heck, it doesn't even have a place for the carrier bearing underneath that would've have been used for a 2-piece shaft. Let me konw if you guys think this was a steal. Thanks!
-Mike

P.S- It's the grey primer one next to the black C20, bottom 2 pix on page.

77c15, I have an 84 long bed which I picked up from a junk yard I had the 2 piece driveshaft , 700r4 and a 305.  I also have an 86 with a one piece drive shaft , th350 and 305.  the 86 did not have the bracket either.  I believe roudedline mentioned the trucks that had a heavier suspension came with a 2 piece shaft so there would not be any binding when loaded down.   I going to stick with the 1 piece since i already had it straightened and balanced with a new yoke
BTW  excellent find for 250.00, I wish I waited my uncle is in SC and I could have had a nice rust free truck.

for the info. I really couldn't believe it. The body and engine alone are worth that much. Now, the only reason it was that cheap is no title. But still, the parts on this thing rack up. I've seen others in the same paper for around 500-600. Oh well, I need to get to swapping fenders, bed, engine, etc. soon. Hopefully, the 76's parts will have no trouble installing onto my "74BRIK". Thanks!
