battery randomly died
« on: December 03, 2016, 07:15:18 pm »
I bought this truck 4 months ago. Only driven once a week to charge the battery.
There was a parasitic draw before I bought it. Only thing I did 3 months ago was swap for a new battery and unplug the circuit to prevent killing the battery. Every since then it starts right up everytime and batt stayed charged.

But today I drove it to the parts store to get a battery for another car, come out of the store ..the batt is drained and cant even crank the starter. I get a jump, then drive around the block, turn it off and back on ...and it dies. Got another jump, but also had them test my alternator. The lady says its not charging the battery
and my thoughts are:
-In terms of a bad alternator, I guess that's why the new battery was up until now, juiced enough to start the motor and drive around the block ...and now i guess its too drained?
-but i'm not too sure because I tested the alternator when i was fixing the first batt drain, and it was charging the battery fine.

Is there other things I be checking or should check? I do not want to invest in this motor. My plan so far with this truck was to swap the motor for a crate motor and in the mean time use the current to move it around the grage when im doing body work.
