I want to install a
smooth front "REAR" bu
on my 1981 short bed, but my doubt is ---- would there be a gap between the bumper and the tailgate? If so how can i prevent this?

Can you clearify what you are wanting to do. I understand it as you want to put a 81-87 front bumper on the back of your truck? is this correct?

They sell smooth back pumpers for fleet and stepside trucks...but yah if you wanna mount a front one on the back that should be fun.

sounds like he's talking about putting a blazer rear bumper on a pickup, or maybe even a roll pan. Either way I have no advice sorry.

Well if you want to make your own brackets you should be able to eliminate a lot of the gap. You could always use the filler panel that they used on the blazers to close the gap as well.

The "rear" Bumper from a Blazer is the same as a factory bumper for a pickup. If you are asking if it will sit out away from the bed, they answer would be no if you are using the factory bumper brackets that go with the bumper.
If you are currently using a step bumper, those brackets won't work. And if you get it from a Blazer/Burb donor, only the outer brackets will work.
