Hydro-boost pedal issues
« on: December 13, 2016, 08:18:55 pm »
I know I've seen this issue before on here but don't think it ever got solved. The issue is the pedal when pressed won't return all the way. And will stay Dow. About 4" from where it's supposed to. Our issue is there a sleeve that go into the hydro-boost unit from inside of the cab and this sleeve will move with the pedal rod the jam up one the rod goes in 2".

Is there supposed to be something to prevent this from happening ?

Not sure what you mean.  I put hydro-boost in my K5 and didn't have any issues.

I've been researching a possible switch to hydroboost and I thought it used a different pedal and with a return spring?

So that rod that is open is binding on the one from the pedal?

The silver sleeve is going into the booster and then falling down a little the pedal rod will only return half way and you can move it with your feet or hand back to "home" but it will fall back down 4". The silver sleeve at this time will keep brakes activated till the sleeve gets popped out

Are you sure you are using the correct master cylinder? GM made a deep style and a shallow style. It relates to how much the travel rod goes into the MC before pushing the MC piston.

When I put A Hydratech hydroboost system in my pro-touring Camaro it came with a small plug that goes into the indentation on the MC piston. What year is your truck and is this a factory GM hydroboost unit or an aftermarket?

Here is a picture of the two different MC's

i cant answer that question truthfully for a couple reasons. number one its my buddys truck i know he has changed MC from one he found in the parts trailer to one for the jd8 style. we did take the MC off when we had issues with it and i want to say the shallow dish looks like it but i wasnt looking for that so i cant say for sure. when the brake pedal does lock up it locks the brakes up also. so there is action but its not full action cause you can still reverse.
