No juice!
« on: December 17, 2016, 11:22:37 am »
Okay so a little background on my '87 K5 Blazer. I bought the Blazer about 5 years ago from someone who removed the original 350 with TBI and swapped in a 350 from a '79. The first 3 years the truck ran awesome! The last 2 years have been a bit of a headache. The truck still runs solid and If I drive the truck everyday the battery will stay charged, if I let it sit for a day no juice at all. I've changed the alternator, and battery along with all the wires and the thing still loses charge! when the truck is running it charges at the normal 13-14. Now when I turn the headlights on it dips a bit, then the heater and it dips even more put it into gear and it's past 10 volts on the Guage. Once I'm on the peddle the volt meter goes back to 13-14 volts obviously because I'm raising the RPM's. The alternator has been load tested and passed with flying colors. I've pulled the radio, and dome light fuse thinking maybe they were grounding out somewhere and it still dies. I know I'm opening a can of worms but where do I look next?

Does the vehicle have a factory clock in the dash?

It's difficult to know just how much you don't know until you know it.
In other words... if people learn by making mistakes, by now I should know just about everything!!!

No factory clock. Just volts, temp, and oil pressure.

Test for a parasitic (i.e., continuous and unwanted) draw on the battery.
