Does the 1406 have a CARB exemption for use on the 454 on a 1977 Heavy 1/2 ton chassis?  If it does Edelbrock should have the information on how to make it legal.

The 1406 is a squarebore and the Quadrajet is a spreadbore so you'll likely need a CARB compliant intake if it can be made compliant.

There are notes in several sites that say "We recommend the Edelbrock 1406 for Non-California Residents."despite the 50 state legal comment.
