Question on rim width
« on: February 07, 2017, 12:21:08 pm »
Hi everyone. I've been super busy with work, so I don't make it around here much. It's to replace the rims and tires on my Suburban. I love the way it looks right now on 33x12s and want to preserve that size as much as possible.

I'm considering some AR Outlaw 2 rims which come in a 16x8 or 16x10 size.

Any advice as to which would be the better choice? Is there a difference beyond aesthetics (and price)? Will a 12" tire look ridiculous mounted on an 8" rim?

Thanks everyone.

A 12" tire will be fine in an 8" rim.

A 305/70R16 Tire is nominal rim width is 9", but is approved for 8", 8-1/2", 9" & 9-1/2".  You technically need to move to a 315 wide tire before you get into an approved 10" wide rim.  This data comes from the Tire and Rim Association (TRA)
