Cab Questions
« on: February 04, 2007, 11:25:00 pm »
Hey guys,I have a 73 chevy thats cab and front clips pretty far gone and I can find a 80s cab but Im having trouble finding a 70s cab.I was wondering if anyone knows what years I can switch my cab with without getting a reconstructed title in PA?And if any one has a 70s cab/front clip/parts truck for sale in decent shape, cheap, and wont cost me an arm and a leg to get to western PA?
Any help would be appriciated
                               Thank You,
                                  TJ

not sure about PA's laws. But once the cab is on there if you use the cabs VIN # whos gonna know the diference? As far as DMV knows you have an 86, 87, 80, or 78.

Some people are like Slinkies. Not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs

Technically, all the cabs are the same so you can use any of them you want.  If you use the 81-87's on a 73-80 version there will be hinge holes in the cowl AND you will have to retro fit the wiper arms.  If you want to avoid this, stick with 73-80 options.

As far as getting retitled, check with the local DMV or any bodyshop in the area and ask what they do if the cab is destroyed beyond repair, but not totalled.

Yes what Chris said too. I didn't read the post clearly. Thought you were talking about swaping cab and front clip.

Search your local Craigslist. I'd be looking for a complete, clean-title parts truck which you can transfer onto your chassis. You won't need a reconstructed title as long as said parts truck has a clean and notarized one.
