Both sides of my engine seen to have a slight ticking noise from the valves. I pulled a cover and started it, it took at least 20 seconds before oil started coming and the oil is just slightly oozing on to the rockers, is that normal? I thought they were supposed to be shooting oil hard. The engine is a 1975 350 in a 73 k20. She gets run at 3000 rpm almost all the time.

Sounds like a tired engine....Camshaft mating with the lifters are likely to be your noise. How many miles on it?

No clue, previous owner told me it was a low miles engine so I'd guess under 150,000. I've put about 6 thousand since I bought it a year ago. Odometer works but it's not the original engine so it don't mean much.

W/a worn cam an lifters, it will create push rods running a bit shorter stride to your rocker arm.......making the ticking noise. You may try to give a wrench a 1/2 turn or so on the rocker arm nuts, but don't expect a whole lot will be accomplished.

I should mention it has 50 psi cold idle oil pressure and between 20-30 psi hot idle.
