Does Temperature Control Unit Use Harness?
« on: May 05, 2017, 12:26:05 am »
My in dash temperature control unit (fan/ac) has roughly 5 wires plugged into the main rear switch, they are all currently using individual connectors that appear to have been spliced in - but its very well done with heat shrink tube so not sure if its stock, but doubt it. Can anyone tell me on the back of your temperature control unit is a single wiring harness plugged in?

Also if this does use a harness, does anyone know what its called when searching for it? ive tried searching "temperature control unit harness" but cant find anything.

Please include Year, Make, Model etc.. when posting

Wiring to the temperature control head is part of the main dash harness.  Some of the individual molded connectors (mode switch & blower switch) are still available, depending on year.

In other words... if people learn by making mistakes, by now I should know just about everything!!!

Thanks bd, yep should have mentioned year/make - this is a 1981 C10 Custom Deluxe with Air Conditioning. I just found in one catalog that it appears that what I'm talking about is the harness or individual connectors as I have now that hooks onto the "heater & a/c control switch" - which is your fan switch on the left side of your controls; also this catalog I have says 73-82 use the same switch that has 4 terminals or male spades - which again right now I have 4 individual females spades hooked onto mine now. This catalog I have sells a pigtail harness it calls it for 83-87 switches, but no mention of these older 73-82 switches whether they actually use a one-piece harness or 4 individual wires as I have now.
