Wire for a 2nd horn?
« on: June 12, 2017, 12:51:50 AM »
Hi friends,

I have a C20 Camper Special 1977 I just acquire and I'm doing tiny enhancements over here and over there.

This weekend while unassembling the headlamp bezel I found a wire that I don't know what is that for.

On one side is connected to the horn but with 2 wires, in the other same color but I don't know what that is for - can someone help?

Following the link for 2 pictures:

It's the power wire for an optional horn.  Generally, when two horns are used, one horn is high note and the other is low note.

Thanks for the quick answer, so if I buy another horn I should be able to just connect and be happy?

As an example a hella horn?

i would have someone blow the horn and see if you can get 12v from that wire. then you would know if it even works

I'll try to remove the one from the other side and test.

I was more wondering why 1 side has 2 wires and the other only 1  :o

The right (passenger side) horn connects to the left (driver side) horn.  In other words, one of the dark green wires at the left horn comes directly from the horn relay, while the other dark green wire runs across to the right horn.

The horn with 2 wires is connected to the horn with 1 wire. The drivers side horn has 2 wires, both are power, 1 wire comes from the junction block and goes to the horn, then another wire goes from the first horn to the second one on the passengers side.

Both horns have to be working for this to work but if you unplug the passenger side horn, the driver side will still work, if you unplug the driver side, the passenger will still work.
