New member here, hello from Sin City...................
« on: July 14, 2017, 11:24:46 pm »
Hello and thanks for allowing me to join the community.

My main reason for being here is that my dad who just turned 85 y/o a week ago has a 1983 Chevorlet Silverado red/white two tone, 2WD, auto, 305 V8, 8ft bed, single cab, pw, pl, tilt, cruise and A/C.

He (my dad) is unable to drive anymore and my goal is to get the truck up and running again so that I can give him a ride in his once pride & joy. He hasn't had it on the road since 2007 and has been garaged stored ever since. He lost his driving privileges back 2013. He doesn't remember much of why he parked it many years ago. He's losing his memory (dementia) and I have to try my best to figure out what's going on. The steering wheel was off and the battery disconnected. Other than that it was pretty much intact.

Eventually after I fulfill my goal by experiencing my dad's joy of riding in his truck I will probably pass the truck down to another family member or putting it on the market. I will not be wanting this truck due to it being in Ohio and me being in Nevada. The expenses and no room also factor in.  I will be visiting soon and taking an extended vacation to tackle on this project as well as catching up with family & friends. I'm originally from Ohio.

Here are some pics of the '83. The first pic dates back to when it was on the road. The other 3 pics are at it's current state.

Thanks

Welcome to the board, that's a pretty nice one from up there.

The column doesn't like too bad, I think this might help you putting it back together

Why part of Ohio? I lived in Akron down near the national park for a while.

Thank you and thanks for the link!

It's a small world isn't it? I'm from Akron, Ohio and my dad lives on the banks of the Cuyahoga River in North Hill.

Welcome from Mass.
Maybe the  steering wheel got removed to fix a horn button of something simple like that.  I'm sure the guys here can walk you through getting it back together.

Thanks, I'm considering removing the entire column and seeing if I can get a local guy to rebuild the column. Hopefully all of the parts & pieces are there.
