Shifter Linkage ?
« on: February 11, 2006, 07:46:00 pm »
I have a 1980 C-10 and it didn't come w/ the shifter linkage.  I recently purchased a linkage from a member.   I'm thinkin it attaches to the frame and might need a spring also.  Can anyone else confirm this?  Right now I have it running from the column to the tranny and it seems like its too loose/flimsy to shift.  W/O the linkage, it shifts fine so I know its not the tranny.

The linkage doesn't go directly to the trans, there is a pivot at the frame that it goes to also.

Ok, now that I know it attaches to the frame...does anyone know if there is a spring in there somewhere?

Mine didn't have a spring where it pivots on the frame, just a plastic bushing.

When the daylight comes tomorrow and I can snap a few pics of my 79, I'll post 'em.

Check out the parts message board. There's always a few guys parting out their trucks.
