700r4 problem
« on: June 20, 2006, 11:11:00 pm »
I just bought a 84 gmc 1/2 ton. 305/700r4. When I put it in reverse, It makes a grinding noise. Almost sounds like I put it in park while driving. Anyone ever hear of this?

It sounds like the synchronizer went out. Does it grind when you shift, or when you actually back up? One time I read where a guy changed his tranny fluid to cure a grinding tranny-
