what would a 350 that is .040 over be? a 357?
also the guys at the place that is rebuilding my block are trying to convince me to have them balance my crank for $250... is it really worth the money to have it done???

Don't quote me on it but I think 357 is correct.

If your rebuilding the engine using all the original rotating assembly (crank, rods, and pistons) I'd say a balance job wouldn't be reqiured. But since your having it bored I'll assume that at the least your getting new pistons. Therefore a balance job on the entire rotating assembly would be very good insurance against main and rod bearing failure.

a balanced rotaion will improve power croass the band or atleast responce but balnceing a stock crank migh tbe a waste of time buying a complete assmbly light wieght rods and crank that is close to being balnce would be a better investment
