Did suburbans ever come from the factory with a manual transmission?

Yes. They could be ordered with 3 spd (I6) or 4 spd. More 4x4s were probably manual then 2WD though.

I have porsonally owned 2 burbs that had a 4 speed(73 3/4 ton 4x4 and a 78 3/4 ton 4x4). I tried to buy a 90 that was a 3/4 ton 2 wheel drive with a 4 speed.
They are rare but they are out there.

Just bought a 82 3/4 ton scottsdale, 350 4 speed.
