how do i stop a leak from my transfer case and what kind of fluid do i put in it

Details about where it is leaking would help. If it is the NP 208 they come from the factory with ATF but I run 5/30 motor oil, a budy of mine that rebuilds trans misions etc. said they last longer with oil.
