tire fitment
« on: January 18, 2004, 02:10:00 am »
Hi. I have a 85 k10 with a four inch rough country suspension lift. I am currently running 33x12.50 tires on 15x8 wheels. The tires look to small so iwant to upgrade to a bigger size. A 35x12.50 looks like it should fit but i would really like to go to a 36x12.50 super swamper. Any body run thoss on four inches of lift? If i need to go to a body lift then i would like to go to a 38x15.50. Any suggestions on sizes that would fit with a 2 or 3 inch body lift plus 4 inches of suspension lift? Also as long as the width stay 12.50 will i be ok with a 15x8 wheel?

with 4 inch suspension and 3 inch body you wont fit 38's.  that would be better for a 36 or even 37 inch tiredepending on the rim.  the wider the rim the shorter the tire will be and vise versa.  i have a 6 inch suspension and 3 inch body and rub with 38's.

Like they said 38s fit 6+3 lift. With only 4" you should be good with 35s but you have to remember about how the wheel turns and how the trucks body will roll when you turn just cause it may look like it fits doesn’t mean it will when turning

If you want to go with swampers, I will tell you this. I run 33-12.5r15 BFG AT/KO with plenty of clearance with an extra leaf in the front and no trimming, but 33-12.50r15 swamper TSL's required fender trimming all the way back to the inner fender and some in the front to be able to turn. The 33" BFG measures about 31" and the TSL's measure 33.25". Just keep in mind that wheel width/offset will have to be factored in, and not all tires are created equal.
