1/2 ton military axels
« on: May 15, 2006, 08:09:00 PM »
does anyone know if the axels on 1/2 ton military blazers had anything special done to them? i was told they have 3/4 ton internals.mine has the standard 6 lug wheels for a 1/2 ton like all of the military blazers i have ever seen.don't 3/4 ton axels have 8 lugs? i'm sure there are a few sites out there about the military trucks,i just have not found what i am looking for.

3/4 ton parts don't fit in ten bolts. I have not had mine open yet on my ex civil service rig. I was told some of them came with a limited slip rear.

Some people are like Slinkies. Not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs

I think you are confusing M1009 with M1008 possibly.
M1008's came with 1T axles D60 in front, 14bolt rear with no-spin diff.  They were pickup trucks.

M1009's had 1/2T axles, Corporate 10bolts fr/rr and Gov-locs. These were Blazers.

I found you some sites with some more info too...

yea, thats what i thought.  somebody told me about the 3/4 ton stuff but i wasn't quite sure it was true. one thing i did notice on the steel soldiers site was that the blazers(m1009) were considered to be 3/4 ton and they were only availible from 84-86. ???????? um..... mine is an 88??????

The Military modified the CUCV to their specs.  So comparing them to a normal 1/2T Blazer wouldn't be the same.  They has extra leafs for added capacity I know for sure, plus they were 24V instead of 12 and ALL of them came with the diesel.
