More Steering Problems...
« on: September 26, 2006, 07:59:00 pm »
Well, I'm finally more and more getting my 80cdeluxe back together, and it's been a long time comming. I'm having another problem though, today after I got the steering knuckle changed, and everything back together I noticed the steering wheel wont turn very far to the right. It turns great and all the way to the left, but not to the right for some unknown reason. I didn't change the drag link when I took the steering knuckle and arm from the 86 so i'm thinking it could possibly be that. I'm just wondering what else you could possible think it could be? I have other steering boxes and columns so shoot some suggestions this way!

Well, the box ears in the box could be as far as they will go to the right aready, or, the box may be ruined.

Just throwing this out there:  Are you using a 4x4 box?  Did you take the pitman arm off?

I took the parts off a 86, but I didn't take the arm that connects the steering box to the drag link... Should I have?

Was the donor '86 a 4x4?  Where did the pitman arm come from?

The donor '86 was a 4x4 (for the steering knuckle) - I didn't take the steering box or the arm that connects to the drag link nor the drag link that connects to the steering arm I just used the one that I had on the truck before.

I just bought a junk 85 4x4 that has the exact same problem. Did you ever figure it out?
