You didn't mention if your engine is stock for the vehicle...makes a difference.

If it is stock, It probably had about 180 horses.

Around 230-250 horse, depending on the year of your motor... It would depend if the Cylinder Heads were 64cc or 72cc

I am sure there wasn't over 200 hp in those years.  About 180 hp.

Get the engine code off the pad behind your alternater on the block and cross referance the last three letters, suffix code, on this link--
www.nastyz28.com/spmenu.html
For instance, mine shows CNB as suffix code, so I click
CMK- CUD, follow the codes down to find CNB and, viola, I've got a 1970 Z28 350 with advertised 360 factory hp. Now you have to take into account that that's flywheel hp. The drivetrain takes up a bit of power, but, it gives you a really good idea at what your dealing with.

Keep in mind the Suffix code only is valid IF the internals that were in it when it left the factory are still there.  Just becuase it has X suffix on it doesn't mean you have a 360hp block, it just means you have a small block chevy.  The code along with the VIN ties it to a specific car/engine.

The 1975 C20's had 160 hp stock.  You may have gained 15hp.  But the engine is 31 years old and it probably doesn't have 175hp anymore...

Roundedline, the 160 hp- is that off the engine or the rear wheels?
