Hey guys
« on: May 09, 2006, 06:36:00 am »
Hey guys, I'm new to this forum and I figured I would introduce myself.  Right now I'm active duty Air Force stationed in England.  I'll be 26 in the begining of June and am originally from South East Texas, and I grew up with these body styles and have always loved them.  I am obsessed with 73-87 year models, I've owned an '82 silverado, '82 custom deluxe, 80 cheyenne, and an '88 4x4 Suburban.  Unfortunately for me, I wasn't able to bring my '82 silverado to England with me, all I have is my '02 Silverado, which makes for a long tour here in England.  I'm recently married to my wonderful wife Patti, needless to say she is beginning to hate these trucks, seems to be all I talk about.  But, I told her that if I wasn't able to build my truck the way I want, it was grounds for a divorce, she laughs.  But, if I can't work on mine, at least now I have a chance to at least talk about the trucks I love so much.  Hope to talk to you guys soon.

Welcome from N.H.

Some people are like Slinkies. Not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs

I'm a lifer, man.  I'm an aircraft mechanic, not too similar to these trucks, but at least I get to work on something cool.

Cool, combine your occupation with your hobby, throw a 20,000 hp jet engine in the bed of your pickkup truck.  Ha.

the military won't miss one tiny engine will they?

lokmotion85, is your truck prostreet?  I really want the g-machine theme for mine, handles as good as possible and good braking, and not to mention the acceleration.  But, it'll be a couple of years until I can do that, unless someone over here has one they'll part with.

There was a post a couple of months ago from a guy in England asking for a parts supplier there, and he got 0 responses. :(

Welcome from the hot and sunny Mojave Desert. Thanks for watching our back.

Which wing are you assigned to? I spent 3 1/2 years back in the dark ages at RAF Bentwaters/Woodbridge. Best time of my life.
40#er's were $2.40 and smokes were $2.50 a carton. I could pay a months rent off base for one 40#er and carton. Stove oil for a month was a pack of smokes. Yeh the good ole days!

Anyway welcome to the greatest forum for us old 73-87 Chevy trucks lovers. Please pass along a little reminder to your new bride that it is fare better to be working on, or in your case, dreaming of working on your truck than cat'n around the bars in that country.

My 30 year project just got primed for paint. Found a set of blue bucket seats in great shape and a almost new black dash at pick-u-part. $43.13 for the seats and $25.00 for the dash. The new JVC cd changer got wired last week.

I'm at RAF Mildenhall, close to RAF Lakenheath, about 70 miles NE of London.  Good luck for my wife that I'm not much of a drinker, I do on occasion partake though.  But, the pubs here are usually friendly, and have pretty decent food too.  I wish I were here back when you were series60, these days the british pound is worth about $1.90.  Anyway, good luck with your project, hope to be in your shoes sometime soon.
