I have a 85 silverado 2wd swb. I just removed my headliner and took off all the foam. I have new material to recover, but what kind of glue should I use?

3m spray adheasive/headliner glue. Any auto parts joint should have it. Spay both pieces and let them get tacky. Then carefully lay the new material on the board and make sure not to get any wrinkles. If you don't let the glue get tacky before sticking the pieces together it will not adhere properly and will come apart soon after you reinstall it. Then you will be back where you started only now you're mad. I learned this the hard way.
This glue is really stringing and flies around easily. Make sure there is no breeze or fans around where you are working. If it gets on the material you can not get it off. Good luck.

I redid mine in my cabinet shop but the fiberglass board was about shot. What I had to do was overlay the board with 1/4 inch foam then used A&M cabinet grade contact adhesive to glue eveything together. I figured that the glue would be good enough seeing as how its waterproof and is stable to like 300 degrees.

thanks for all the advise guys! I ended up going to a upolstery shop today. 50 bucks with a guarantee! not worth my time or pain! now I just need to find a dash pad! thanks again!

I took mine out recently because the material itself was sagging in spots, looking like big bubbles. The pressed fibre backing is in fairly decent shape so I just hot-glued some of the areas where the layering came apart. I was just thinking of getting some new material to recover it.
