Stepside Fenders
« on: June 02, 2006, 08:16:00 pm »
Hey all,

The box on my project (well, my dads project) is all rotted,  25 years in NYS with all the salt really hurts metal lol.
Its an 81 C10, with a fleetside. But we want to put a stepside on it...Problem is, it has dual tanks and I just bought both tanks for it, and I cant find fenders with fuel doors/holes in both sides....Does anyone know where I can find these?

Also, I have a 10 Bolt rearend, with 2.73 gears - is this a 8.2"  rearend? I want to order 3.08 gears for it, but just wanted to make sure it was the right one. Thanks all!

I've seen the bed panels in Classic Industries catalogue, but it only shows a gas fill on the right hand side. I hope you can find what you need, but you may have to find a way to make your own filler hole in the right side panel.

The GM 10 bolt differential has an 8.5" ring gear diameter. You may already know this, but the RPO code in your glove box -if it's still there- has the info telling you which gear ratio is in the dif. and of couse, swapping to a different gear tooth ratio between the ring gear and pinion is how you change ratios.I like checking out www.drivetrain.com for rear end info.

Why not just put the drivers side tank away and just run a pass side tank? With the price of gas theres no real need for dual tanks...

thanks

left and right stepside fenders with gas filler holes or doors are available, also with different lower rear shapes for wider tires. that's from alot of surfing, i wish i still had the addresses for you.

Thanks Guys, Ill try to find them! But if I have to, I can always have my bodyshop guy figure out a way to make a hole, The round one should be fairly simple.

I would only use one tank, but I just bought the new valve for the dual tanks, both tanks, new fuel lines, and went thru the heck of hooking up both tanks! So I'd really like both tanks.

Thanks,

The fender you cannot find was produced by GM up until last year when it went out of stock.  You can try searching the dealerships for one, but they cost me (with a discount) $450.

As of right now no one makes the passenger side square door fender.
