« on: April 15, 2007, 08:59:38 pm »
I got a 350 turbo that wont shift right.... it shifts ok if your barely touchin the throttle but soon as you give it throttle it just shifts up... it wont stay in gear until higher rpms like it should... any suggestions on what it could be? it will however shift fine if i manually shift it its a 1982 chevy short box

Sounds like your kickdown cable is not adjusted correctly....with a little accelerator action, it kicks the tranny up a gear for passing.  It is a simple adjustment if that is indeed what is happening.

Make sure your vacuum line is attached to the modulator...it should lead from the intake manifold behind the carb down to the right side of the tranny into the modulator.  Your modulator is adjustable too if you want softer or harder shift.  There is a little tiny screw inside the hole where the line attaches.

Yeah ive not had the kickdown hooked up since i got the tranny but it worked alright at first then just started doing that. but yeah if you take off and floor it it just shifts into second real quick and then starts to pull it wont stay in first... ive checked the modulater and even bought a new one.  i havent heard of the kickdown cable possibly bein the problem ill check it out thanks
